How does being a vegan help our planet earth? It is more profound than you can imagine!
It takes a tremendous amount of our resources for the meat and dairy industry to feed the masses. For example it takes approximately 2500 gallons of water to produce 1 pound of beef, and only 2 gallons of water to produce 1 pound of potatoes. *
Not to mention the cost of transportation, manpower, medications, compliance, food (more than 1/3 of our corn crop is used to feed livestock and that doesn’t take into account how much we import to feed livestock), advertising, political promotion, packaging, the list goes on and on and on. The pollution of our sacred earth in the quest to provide meat and dairy to us is devastating to our land and water supplies.
The sustainability of the way we eat is impossible. A vegan diet eliminates so much of this degradation to our one earth. I will be providing resources to help you with understanding how the vegan diet is a sustainable and an integral part of sustainability of our world.
Want to help our earth but not wanting to go vegan? Here is an article on Meatless Monday for you to read.
